It’s our final show in November, so we have a feast of Huskies sports to cover this weekend. Building on the serious, unbiased program from last night, we continue our banter this afternoon beginning at 3:00 p.m. right here at WRBBsports.com:
- Northeastern hockey wraps up their 3-game homestand this Friday against Providence - is this weekend a must-sweep for the Huskies? Will Providence continue their good run of play?
- Hockey East is still tightly-packed, and two of the bottom three teams are NU and BU. What does Northeastern have to do, in order to climb out of the early-season cellar?
- Huskies hoops returns home to face Utah State. What went wrong for NU at Siena on Tuesday, and can it be fixed for this Saturday’s big game? What do you think the turnout will be for the new N-Zone fan section?
- CAA basketball is struggling in out-of-conference play, but there are a few bright spots. Will the rest of the conference follow the good wins for UNC-Wilmington and William & Mary?
- Huskies football wraps up their season, and as strange as it sounds, NU could actually improve their year-to-year win total if they can beat 1-9 Rhode Island.
- The Six Pack (we hope!) and Last Call

It’s homecoming weekend! With a ton of home games this weekend, what’s not to be excited about? This afternoon, Jared Shafran, Keith Lavon, and yours truly will guide you through the three hours of madness we call the Dog Pound Sports Sound. On today’s program:
- With no hockey talk last night, our brilliant analysis had another night to simmer, and we’ll deliver our attempt to answer these questions - can Northeastern break out of this slump? Is Lowell the new team to beat in Hockey East (we already know what RHHB thinks about this issue)? Who will come out on top in a crucial Vermont/BC series this weekend?
- Huskies basketball held their annual red/black scrimmage game last night. Is there anything useful we can take away from the game? The voice of Huskies basketball, Jason Lavine, will also offer his thoughts on Tuesday’s big season opener at Siena on ESPN.
- Northeastern football plays its last home game of the season tomorrow. We pose this question to - will they win another game?
- The women’s soccer season ended with a thud, and the men will need to pull off another thrilling run on the road to get to the CAA championship. Meanwhile, women’s hockey has started the season in the top 10 for the second straight year, can they keep it up?
- As always, we’ll have the Six Pack and Last Call
Tune in today beginning at 3:00 p.m. on 104.9-FM or online at WRBBsports.com!

Bill Coen
Really? You had to ask what’s going to be on today’s show? Do we ever have a jam-packed lineup on this big Friday here at WRBB:
- Northeastern men’s basketball head coach Bill Coen will join us in studio to talk Huskies hoops for the 2009-2010 season, which begins in less than two weeks.
- Huskies hockey returns to the ice tonight in a much-anticipated, much-hyped game against arch rival Boston University. We’ll look at what the Huskies have to do to post their first Hockey East victory of the season.
- Women’s soccer hosts the CAA tournament this weekend, with a trip to the NCAA tournament on the line during the next few days. With top player Devin Petta out for the season, can they still win the conference championship? Tonight they face James Madison in the second semifinal of the afternoon - we’ll talk to Ben Horner, who is calling tonight’s game from Parsons Field.
- After UMass was handed a stunning 19-9 loss by Maine, can Northeastern follow? Our Huskies football insider Patrick McHugh will preview Saturday’s game.
- Despite the truncated version of the show, we’ll (maybe) have the Six Pack and Last Call.
Tune in starting at 3:00 p.m. as Jared Shafran and Alex Faust host the Dog Pound Sports Sound.

It’s a Halloween weekend here at Northeastern, and we’ve got plenty of treats for you on today’s show. Among the topics we’ll be discussing:
- We got a chance to speak with men’s soccer coach Brian Ainscough as his team sprints towards the playoffs in first place.
- Northeastern hockey has the week off, which gives the team a chance to work on their game after two losses last weekend. We’ll look at what the team should be improving during the break.
- Huskies football got its first win in over a year! We’ll go through what worked and if they can do it again this weekend at New Hampshire.
- Ahead of the biggest regular season women’s soccer game in program history, we’ll preview Saturday’s match against Hofstra at Parsons Field.
- The NCAA passed new recruiting regulations, aimed at curbing pay-to-play practices with third parties connected to prospective players. Will it make a difference?
- As always, the Six Pack and Last Call

Honestly, do you want to be outside in this disgusting New England weather? That’s what I thought. Before today’s home opener at Matthews Arena, sit back, relax, and stay dry with the best Northeastern sports talk on the dial. Here’s what we have for you today:
- Keith Lavon and Jared Shafran will break down Northeastern hockey’s series against Colorado College. Why? They were in Colorado Springs calling the games last weekend. The chill there makes today in Boston feel like a warm summer day.
- What can we expect from Bentley tonight at Matthews Arena?
- Huskies football finished the first half with a lead against the No. 8 team in the country, so why was the second half so dismal in a 34-14 loss to William & Mary? Our Northeastern football insider Patrick McHugh will join us by phone.
- Women’s hockey is undefeated, and women’s soccer is well-positioned for another run at the CAA championship
- Plus, the Friday Night Six Pack, Last Call, and our views on the ALCS and NLCS
It all starts at 3:00 p.m., LIVE on 104.9-FM and WRBBsports.com
