Everything seemed to go wrong for Northeastern as they dropped their second game in as many nights to the Bentley Falcons 2-1 on Saturday night at Matthews Arena.
After the first two periods went by without a score, Mike McLaughlin netted his third goal of the year, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead with 13:35 remaining in the game.
But Bentley’s Erik Peterson responded just over a minute later with a goal of his own to tie the game at 1-1.
Bentley got the game winning goal just a few minutes later at 10:42 of the third period and the Huskies weren’t able to mount a comeback.
Clay Witt made his first career start in net for Northeastern and played a solid game, making 32 saves in the loss. For the Falcons, Joe Calvi was impressive, making 34 saves of his own.
Although the Huskies were in the game, their power play was a disappointment once again going 1-7 on the night. McLaughlin’s goal came with three seconds left on a Bentley penalty to Micah Williams. The Falcons made a total of 9 penalties in the game.
NU will have a week to re-group before their next game which is Friday, November 5th against Niagara back on the Matthews ice. The puck drops at 7:00 pm.
