As the Hockey East quarterfinals approach (they’re one week away from this Friday), the Huskies can mathematically finish anywhere between fourth and ninth in the standings. At extreme ends of the spectrum are home ice and missing the playoffs, and somewhere in the middle lies the Huskies’ most probable outcome.
At the very least, Northeastern needs either two points or a single UMass loss to be guaranteed a playoff spot. From there, the Huskies’ final seeding is as much determined by their own play as it is by the rest of the conference - the logjam from fourth to ninth has created many seeding scenarios.

It’s been a while, and it’s good to be back. While men’s basketball has been stuck in the middle of the College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 poll, Northeastern hockey hasn’t seen the pollercoaster since this feature ran on November 11th. A lot has happened since then. At that point hockey was on the highest of highs, defeating Boston University at home. The team has experienced rock bottom, a 9-2 drubbing in Burlington, Vermont. Since that blowout, the Huskies are 6-1. Add to that wins against teams under consideration (Lowell, UMass, Vermont), and NU once again becomes a team represented in the most recent USCHO poll.
So, how does Northeastern stand in those polls? Read more…
