LOWELL, MASS. — The score line told the story. Northeastern played a relatively even first period, but UMass-Lowell’s relentless forecheck and sparkling goaltending from Doug Carr overwhelmed a shaken Northeastern Huskies team, as the Riverhawks claimed a 4-0 win at the Tsongas Center on Friday night. It was the first time the Huskies had suffered a shutout loss this season, and marked the Huskies’ 3rd consecutive defeat, putting NU in a dangerous position in the race for the playoffs. Lowell’s top freshman (and lone NHL draft pick) Scott Wilson scored two goals en route to the victory, Lowell’s 13th.

BOSTON – For the bulk of Saturday’s game at Fenway Park, it was a one goal affair. But at every turn, each time the Huskies tried to come back into the game, an untimely penalty, a bad bounce, seemed to doom their effort. It was yet another 1-goal game against Boston College, the seventh game in a row the Huskies and Eagles have decided their game by a goal or less. But in the end, the 1-goal result was one that has become familiar against the Eagles: a loss.

BOSTON – For 20 minutes, it looked to be an instant classic for the Northeastern Huskies. A frantic up-and-down first period against the #6-ranked Boston University Terriers was punctuated by two goals in quick succession. The first came from Alex Tuckerman at 18:38 into the period on a rebound from a Justin Daniels shot, folllowed less than a minute later by a wrister in the top right corner by Ludwig Karlsson (at 19:33). Northeastern entered the locker room suddenly up by two goals. But the problems that plagued the Huskies in their 1-7-2 start to the season crept to the surface quickly. Defensive gaffes, and mental mistakes (including a major penalty on defenseman Josh Manson) allowed the highly talented and potent Terriers offense to take advantage. BU potted three goals in less than four minutes, sucking the life out of Matthews Arena and in the process suffocating Northeastern’s ill-fated attempts to climb back into the game.
