ROCHESTER, MI– TJ Williams swished a fall away jumper in the paint at the buzzer to give Northeastern a 61-59 win over Oakland on Tuesday night in the O’rena. It was the Huskies’ third win in a row, and they are now 7-5 as they head into conference play. Northeastern leaves the state of Michigan with a couple of impressive wins on the road.

The Huskies fell behind 10-3 to start the game, but responded with an 18-0 run over the next eight minutes to run out to a 21-10 lead. Oakland tied the game two times in the last four minutes, but they were never able to reclaim the lead.

Williams finished the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. It was the third double-double of his career. Alex Murphy left the game after playing six minutes in the first half. He did not return. Max Boursiquot stepped up in his place, scoring a career high 18 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.

Oakland falls to 9-2 on the season. This win snaps an eight-game home winning streak for the Golden Grizzlies. It is the first time this season they were held under 70 points.

The Huskies’ next game is on December 31 as they will open up conference play at home against William & Mary.
