Pierson transfers to UVM, cites disagreement on in-game role at NU

April 20th, 2012

Sophomore center Ryan Pierson has elected to transfer from Northeastern to the University of Vermont this off-season, joining Kauri Black and Alwayne Bigby as players who will not return to the Huskies next season. In an interview the Burlington Free Press, Pierson talked about why he left Northeastern – part of the season was a disagreement with coach Bill Coen about his role during game play, which had been significantly reduced during the 2011-12 season:

“I didn’t really understand (Northeastern coach Bill Coen’s) decisions, and I had several conferences with him,” Pierson said. “He couldn’t really explain to me why my role had changed, either. So my family and I decided that moving on might be best.”
