Huskies vs. Huskies in NIT on Tuesday

Northeastern learned its postseason fate on Sunday night when it was announced that the team had been selected as a No. 5 seed in the NIT Postseason Tournament. NU will visit the Connecticut Huskies for a first round game on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m., with the game being televised nationally on ESPN2. WRBB Sports will also have live play-by-play coverage of the game beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Northeastern last visited Storrs, Conn. in the 2007-08 season, UConn 69-60.
Selection Sunday

The day that college basketball fans around the nation have waited for is finally here – Selection Sunday. While the masses will learn whether their favorite team is in (and what seed) or out of the NCAA tournament, Northeastern fans will have to wait a bit longer – the National Invitation Tournament selection show is at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU. At that time, the Huskies will know whether they have qualified for the NIT, or relegated to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) for the second consecutive season.
As soon as the Huskies’ destination is known, we will post the information on WRBBSports.com. In addition, listen to WRBB tonight at 11:00 p.m. for The Sports Corner for discussion of the selection.

Today on the Dog Pound Sports Sound
Northeastern’s early exit from the CAA tournament and elimination from Hockey East postseason contention won’t stop us from bringing you a weekly dose of Northeastern sports talk:
- We’ll diagnose all the problems that led to hockey’s difficult finish to the year – will the team bounce back next year?
- Basketball’s heartbreaking loss to William & Mary seemed like a microcosm of the season. We’ll look back at Sunday’s game.
- NU will be playing postseason basketball, but in which tournament? Will the Huskies get an at-large bid to the NIT, or relegated to the CBI? Plus, how far will Old Dominion get in the NCAA tournament?
- We’ll begin some early assessments of what the 2010-2011 season might have in store.
It all starts at 3:00 p.m. live on-air and online.
