Off The Wires: Wiffle ball, a rival’s return

September 23rd, 2009

>>> Ed Klotzbier’s Student Affairs squad lost a blowout to the Student Government folks in wiffle ball on Monday. Perhaps we should organize a college sports radio grudge match between the Beanpot schools? Hmm… [Northeastern]

>>> Mike Litos picks Northeastern basketball to finish 2nd in the CAA this season. Technically, they finished tied for 2nd last year, but  it didn’t feel very good. [CAA Hoops]

>>> Speaking of basketball, bad news for Huskies fans. He’s baaaack… Jake O’Brien, the player who single-handedly smashed NU in last year’s game vs. BU, has decided to remain at BU instead of transferring elsewhere. [DFP]

>>> Versus will air the first-ever nationally televised CAA football game on October 3rd when No. 2 Villanova hosts No. 5 William & Mary. [CAA PR]

By the way, if you thought the spread was lop-sided against BC (and rightfully so), early indicators put NU as a 30-point underdog to Villanova this Saturday. Not surprising, but still painful to see.
