Today on the Dog Pound Sports Sound

December 11th, 2009

Take a break from finals, and get the Huskies sports talk you crave. In our final full-length show of the fall semester, there’s a lot to discuss. Tune in today beginning at 3:00 p.m., and here’s what you’ll hear:

  • Northeastern basketball continues to come up short in games. Why are the losses piling up, and what must be on the agenda for the team during their west coast trip in two weeks?
  • Huskies hockey continues their middle-of-the-road season with a game against Maine tomorrow night. Will this game be a turning point in the season, just before the holiday break?
  • What were the biggest moments of the 2009 calendar year? Was it Alex Tuckerman’s goal in the Hockey East quarterfinals, or the achievement of going to the NCAA tournament? What about Chaisson Allen’s half-court shot that’s been seen around the world on YouTube? Maybe it was the Baseball Beanpot, which Northeastern won in dramatic fashion over UMass? IM the studio (wrbbradio on AIM) or call in during the show with your thoughts.
  • We’ll have our final national segment of the year, and the final “last call” from the cast of thousands.

Tune in to 104.9-FM on campus, or on your computer at WRBBSports.com beginning at 3:00 p.m.

>>> We start with the evil empire on Commonwealth Avenue, which again tied a game late and sent it to overtime on Friday, but then lost it all on Saturday. [Terrier Hockey Fan Blog]

>>> Mike McMahon has Friday’s and Saturday’s reactions from the NU-Merrimack series. [Warrior Rink Rat]

>>> The folks in Amherst weren’t thrilled with the way things went on Friday, but things got worse on Saturday. [Fear The Triangle]

>>> Meanwhile, in Lowell, has the team finally stopped tumbling down the Hockey East standings? [The Ice Is Life]

>>> Things are looking brighter every day in Orono (Northeastern’s next destination), especially after a solid sweep of last-place Providence. [Maine Hockey Journal]

Meanwhile, on the hardwood, it was the CAA’s opening weekend:

>>> We start with Northeastern, where Matt Holt says the Huskies are struggling to hit their shots. [Huskies on the Move]

>>> UNC-Wilmington was awful in the first half of their game against George Mason. Though they eventually came up short, fans at “The Dub” (as Mike Litos calls it) were treated to a heck of a comeback. [UNCW Basketball / Wilmington Star News]

>>> George Mason got its first true road victory of the season in that UNCW game. [George Mason Basketball Blog]
