Today on the Dog Pound Sports Sound

September 18th, 2009

It’s week 3 of Northeastern football, and the Huskies wrap-up the home stand by facing non-conference opponent Youngstown State on Saturday. Here’s the rundown for the show:

  • Breaking down last week’s loss to Maine – what went wrong, what looked good, and what can we look for on Saturday?
  • Pete Mollica of the Youngstown Vindicator will be in Boston to cover Saturday’s game – we’ll talk with him about what Youngstown will bring to the table.
  • Women’s soccer has a crucial non-conference rivalry game, hosting BU tonight. They’re now ranked #1 in the Mid-Atlantic region – with Veronica Napoli back in the starting lineup, are they unstoppable?
  • Brad Thiessen and Joe Vitale returned to the ice earlier this week, this time in a pre-season tryout for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  • We recently toured the new Matthews Arena. We’ll share thoughts on the arena renovations.
  • Plus, we have the 30/30 Husky Hotwire every half hour, the first Friday Night Six Pack, and Last Call.

Join Alex Faust, Jared Shafran, Keith Lavon, and the entire crew at 3:00 p.m., live on WRBB and WRBBsports.com.

Off The Wires: Maine loss, ESPN Boston, Matthews pics

September 14th, 2009

>>> Northeastern lost another football game. The media was there. There are stories to read. [Google News]

>>> ESPN Boston launched today. Is it just us, or is there something missing from the website’s header? We can’t quite put out finger on it. [via @dieharddogs]

>>> More Matthews Arena pictures have emerged for you to drool at. We’re hoping to get a tour and post some high-resolution shots soon, because most of what we’ve seen so far was either taken with dim lighting, or with a camera phone. We’re tired of waiting! Is it October yet?? [Warrior Rink Rat]
